Saturdays Premiership Football Picks

Saturday's Premierhsip value football betting

Arsenal v Manchester United

All eyes will be on the Emirates at lunch time today as Arsenal take on Manchester United. A potential classic, free flowing football, lots of goals? I wouldn't bet on it. Eight of the last 11 Premiership encounters between the sides have produced two goals or less. This is a game that could see both defences on top, stifling the fantastic array of attacking talent on display.

Although Manchester United have scored four goals in each of their past four games and are on a sequence of eight straight Premiership wins, Arsenal are unbeaten and have taken maximum points at home. A classic case of two attacking, flair sides cancelling each other out.

It's hard to look beyond the draw at 3.2 (11/5) on Betfair but Laying Arsenal at 2.62 (13/8) covers a Manchester United away win which just might happen with their stronger attack.

Remember with betting exchanges such as Betfair you can BACK and/or LAY any selection and choose the price/odds you want to take. With all of the following match bets you are attempting to create the market rather than follow it. Simply taking the first price you see on Betfair will most likely mean poor value as a 'backer' or 'layer'. Post your price(s) and if there are no takers that's fine. Remember, value is key, whatever side of the bet you are on.

LAY Fulham 2.48 v Reading

LAY Middlesboro 3.2 v Spurs

BACK Newcastle 2.1 v Portsmouth

Wigan v BACK Chelsea HT-FT 2.22

Notes & Explanation: Try and get as near as possible to these prices. If the market isn't close to these levels on the BACK or LAY side be patient or adjust to a level you are comfortable with. When you 'LAY' a selection, you are betting against it winning. For example, if you're betting in the Arsenal v Manchester United market and you lay Arsenal, you offer odds to other punters who wish to back Arsenal. In this instance as near to 2.62 (13/8) as you can get. If Arsenal don't win, then you pick up the backer's stake minus commission. If Arsenal win, then you pay out.
